Nothing in General - Introduction
Welcome to Nothing in General, F.C. Shultz’s Suspiciously Specific Blog About Everything.
Eleven years ago, as a big-headed, angsty Bible college student, I started a weekly blog full of quippy platitudes and other cringe worthy, pseudo-inspirational posts.
I ended that nonsense eight years ago.
That discipline of writing to a weekly deadline was the foundation I needed when I started writing fiction. Since my first book in 2017, I’ve managed to publish one book a year. That old blog helped me more than anyone else.
So, why another blog (I think newsletter is the term we use now)? I have a lot of interests, and I like to think deeply about things, and I process them by writing. That’s it.
Expect short, irregular, suspiciously specific posts about bird watching, commentary on A.I. generated art, book reviews, deep dives on quotes from books, music recommendations, thoughts on writing books, poetry critiques, and even the power of nostalgia that enables me to eat (and enjoy) objectively bad breakfast food.
I also send one email a month to my newsletter subscribers where I give them behind-the-scenes content on my current projects, share photos, and give music and book recommendations. You also get my most popular book for free when you sign up.
Oh, and that image at the top of this post? That’s what an A.I. image generator created when I typed “Nothing in General” as a prompt.
We’ll talk about that soon.
