May 2023 Top Ten

1.

I finally finished the book Abraham’s Silence by J. Richard Middleton. It’s an exploration on if Abraham actually did the right thing in nearly sacrificing his son, but more than that, it’s a great book about lament and talking back to God.

2.

My good friends gave a TED Talk! It’s about connecting through board games, and it’s really great. Very proud of them. It’s cool. Check it out.

3.

I got the final recordings for my book The Mystery at Pancake Shores, so I listened to them. I really like this little story. Now that Sparrow and The Stream is complete, I can focus on getting that audio book out!

4.

I also finished The Halfling’s Gem. It was bittersweet, because this trilogy ended, and then a week later my five year long D&D campaign ended. I don’t want to talk about it.

5.

I was reminded of this song by one of my favorite bands. It’s very good. Here’s an acoustic version.

6.

I read Crucial Conversations and enjoyed it. Some very practical stuff to have better conversations.

7.

I also read the small book The Freedom of the Christian by Martin Luther. There seems to be a resurgence of little books, and I’m into it. Great read.

8.

I listened to this version of Poor Wayfaring Stranger and loved it.

9.

Me and Sammi finished the series finale of Ted Lasso. It didn’t have the emotional punch as some of the other episodes, but it was still very solid. The way they tackled some topics like forgiveness, brotherly love, trauma, the importance of family, was phenomenal. The language is just brutal though. Very vulgar.

10.

I watched this video of teachers trying to guess student’s GPA’s. It’s a pretty interesting social experiment.
