June 2024 Top Ten
1.
We read The Three-Body Problem for book club. Took me a second to get into it, but enjoyed it.
2.
Watched this video on how to make a mini zine from a single sheet of paper, and made one with my favorite poems/quotes on it that’s in my pocket right now. Milo also made one about a smoothie, then we copied it at the library and he was ecstatic.
3.
I read The God of the Garden by Andrew Peterson and thought it was pretty good, though it definitely had it’s weak points. Still worth reading.
4.
Sammi and I watched The Fall Guy one night. I liked it, but it’s interesting that big action movies almost have to do all the action in a somewhat ironic way (I think Mission Impossible is one of the exceptions).
5.
I was reminded of this paramotor video that was the seedling for my new novel Sparrow and The Stream.
6.
Can’t remember how I found this song, but I’ve been spinning it a lot lately. He’s a good lyricist, as far as flow goes.
7.
I read The Sword in the Tree by Clyde Robert Bulla to see if it would be good for Milo. It was just a fine story. Nothing too fascinating. Would probably be good once he can read on his own.
8.
I was reminder of this song from an old indie band that’s not even on Spotify. The lyrics are funny, but I love it.
9.
I read The Secrets of Character by Matt Bird. It was good, but the first book, The Secrets of Story, was more helpful for me.
10.
I went fishing with Milo on Father’s Day using my grandpa’s old fishing poles.
