November 2024 Top Ten
1.
We read Claire Keegan’s novella Small Things Like These for book club. I enjoyed it, and am looking forward to seeing the new movie. But, if you haven’t read any of Keegan’s work, I’d say start with her novella Foster.
2.
Watch this video if you want to have your selfie taken from space.
3.
I reread Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot, and understood a little more than I did the first time I read it. Maybe that’s the point?
4.
I also reread On Getting Out of Bed by Alan Noble. It’s a yearly read for me.
5.
This new Ryan Trahan video is fun and funny. And, he’s clean, so I think it would be good for families to watch with upper elementary/middle school kids.
6.
I read Zorro Vol. 3, Tales of the Fox, and it was awesome, but it ended on another cliffhanger, so that bummed me out a bit.
7.
I read the short book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse. I need to reread it a few times before I form an opinion.
8.
Me and Sammi watched the old movie Fly Away Home about a young girl who becomes the mother goose to a gaggle of geese. I loved it as a kid (I enjoyed it this time, too).
But, while watching, I realized it subconsciously influenced my newest novel, Sparrow and The Stream, with it’s flying machine. Pretty wild how deep some of those connections go.
9.
I read Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Earley. A lot of good examples of helpful habits for growing families.
10.
Your favorite neighborhood Celtic band just released a Christmas EP. It’s fun. Add it to your playlists!
