JULY 2021 TOP TEN

1.

I re-read Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott. I’m writing the first draft of a book right now and it’s been a struggle. Listening to books about writing helps. My review.

2.

We read The Crystal Shard for book club and I enjoyed it way more than I thought. My review.

3.

The comedian Nate Bargatze read my comment during the live filming of his podcast.

4.

I finished Loki and loved it. Not better overall than Wandavision, but definitely more fun.

5.

I watched Luca and enjoyed it. Some of the character development felt lacking, but I do love small stories.

6.

I read Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot and didn’t get it. I’ll have to revisit it someday.

7.

One of my new favorite musicians, Andy Squyres, released acoustic versions of my favorite album of 2021. Here’s the original, and here’s the acoustic version. I’m sure it’s available wherever you get your music.

8.

Speaking of Andy Squyres, I got a mug from him, and it’s easily my new favorite.

9.

This E.P. by Sarah Juers called Cyberspace is great, too. Especially the title track.

10.

I read Eugene Peterson’s book called Take and Read, which is a list of 298 books that are important to him. Click here to see how many I’ve read.

11.

I read Fierce Convictions by Karen Swallow Prior about the life of Hannah More. I wanted to see how she used poetry for social change. I’ve got some ideas brewing. My review.

12.

Went and saw Black Widow in theaters with my friends for my birthday. It was fun.
