January 2022 Top Ten

1.

We read the book Project Hail Mary for book club. It was a fun read. My full review.

2.

I probably read less than ten books for fun growing up, but the first couple books of the Alex Rider series are on that list. I decided to give them a try twenty years later. The first book, Stormbreaker, is full of cliches, but is still a lot of fun. My full review.

3.

I started the second Alex Rider book, Point Blank, as soon as I finished the first. I remembered a ton from this one. The science is all off, but it was still fun. I think I’m going to read through the books I remember. My full review.

4.

We watched the Disney+ show Hawkeye, and enjoyed it. Green Arrow is one of my favorite D.C. characters, so it was fun seeing all the bow and arrow action. Also, I loved that it’s a pretty small story.

5.

I read the graphic novel Marvels, and really enjoyed it. This panel stuck with me. My full review.

6.

I read the new John Mark Comer book called Live No Lies: Recognize and Resist the Three Enemies That Sabotage Your Peace and loved it. It was especially relevant for people trying to follow Jesus in 2022. My full review.

7.

We watched Spiderman: Homecoming and Spiderman: Far From Home to get ready to see Spiderman: No Way Home because Sammi hadn’t seen it yet. Homecoming is still my favorite Marvel movie.

8.

I watched the Marvel movie Eternals and enjoyed it, but it reminded me of a D.C. movie: darker tone, too many characters, weak plot, and aliens.

9.

My friend recommended the graphic novel Batman: White Knight, and I loved it. Joker goes sane. Batman pushes even his limits. And my favorite Batman villain, Mr. Freeze, plays a role. Good stuff.

10.

I’ve been re-listening to two Avett Brothers songs that make me cry. Check them out below. Add them to your feels playlists.
